Vet finds paw-fect location

- TONY RAGGATT

A TOWNSVILLE veterinary clinic is set for expansion after relocating to premises twice the size of its previous property just a few doors down the street.

Ross Island Veterinary Clinic partner Paula Hastie said the move was transformative for the practice as it moved to break the confines of a smaller site and looked to future growth.

“This new site will allow us to grow over the next few years. Mainly we will have the potential to take on another vet,” Ms Hastie said.

“We are looking to improve our capabilities and increase our equipment.”

The clinic has operated for eight years from a small office in Boundary St.

It now occupies a 250 sqm former medical centre based at 125 Boundary St.

Ray White Commercial agent Troy Townsend, who negotiated the lease, is a regular customer of the practice and admits to having something of a menagerie at his home with chooks, bees, aquarium fish, ducks and a South American parakeet, as well as a pet dog and cat.

“It’s meant many visits to Ross Island Veterinary Clinic,” Mr Townsend said.

He is more than happy to have been able to come to the practice’s rescue with the offer of a large former medical centre site so close to Ms Hastie’s previous premises in Railway Estate.

Mr Townsend said the property was purpose-built in the late 1980s as a GP clinic and pharmacy.

It featured a waiting room, reception, four consulting rooms and amenities.

He said it meant that much of the infrastructure the practice needed was already in place.

Mr Townsend said it also had good parking and great signage to Boundary St.
