- SHAYLA BULLOCH

A BRAZEN home invasion, bottle shop robbery and terrifying assault are among some of the shocking instances of crime from the weekend.

Townsville District Superintendent Glen Pointing yesterday provided information on the three incidents, saying some of the suspects were still on the run.

On Friday night, two men fled from a bottle shop after stealing alcohol and threatening employees.

Townsville police were called to the Liquor Stax store at North Ward about 11pm on Friday to reports two men had stolen a bottle of rum.

The pair were captured on CCTV threatening to punch two employees before they fled along Gregory St. Supt Pointing said that police had some suspects in mind.

On Saturday morning, a middle-aged woman was left “shaken” after a man forced his way into her Townsville home and stole her belongings.

Police were called to a Gulliver home about 6am on Saturday after a 55-year-old woman was confronted by a man at her door.

The man pushed past the woman, made his way into her home and grabbed her handbag.

He made a dash for the door and pushed the woman in the chest, causing her to fall on the ground on his way out.

Supt Pointing said the man met up with a second person outside and the pair ran off.

Supt Pointing said the woman was left “very upset and shaken” as a result of the incident. Early Sunday morning, two men fled from a Magnetic Island home after assaulting the occupants in a shocking break-and-enter.

The men rode motorcycles to the Picnic Bay residence and broke into the home wearing motorbike helmets about 6am on Sunday.

The pair assaulted two men, aged 47 and 48 years old.

Supt Pointing said that the attack was targeted.

“Both parties may know each other, but … we’ve got no particular suspects at the moment,” he said.

The men were not seriously injured and nothing was stolen from the Barbarra St home.

Supt Pointing said police would speak with the victims to try to determine the identities of the men.
