Few doubt ability of greyhound

- LEE PEARCE

SHE has only had three days to back up, but there is few doubters of the ability of Super Hard.

The Jo Wooler-trained greyhound will have her sights set on winning when she backs up in the Bohle Barn Hotel Motel Best 8 over 380m at Townsville Showground today.

Super Hard has been in ultra-consistent form with three straight seconds after her sizzling effort on Tuesday night to finish just shy of beating Provoker over the distance.

She will get a top shelf run on the track tonight after drawing inside in box two and will be hard to beat.

But it is a field with form including Billy Bottaluchi (4) for Graham Thomson who won two starts ago from box one. He has shown that he can handle the rise in grade, and will be a place chance.

Premier Return (1) for Robert Lound has drawn ideally close to the rails, she is returning from a short spell for this start. Flash Pappa (7) for Rhonda Essery will be in the same boat having not raced for couple weeks. He will be fresh going into this and can begin well on his night.

The other feature race of the day is the TAB 5th Grade over 498m with trainer Andrew Wooler making up almost half the field.

Wooler will rug up three chances including Tuesday night winner Segredo (5). He ran a PB of 28.84 from box one for that win and although he has drawn wider, he should be hard to beat from here. Salaam (7) ran second on Tuesday night from box five behind his kennelmate Segredo and will again be a place chance.

Kennelling for today’s meeting closes at 11.28am with the first race at 12.13pm.
