Townsville Bulletin

We should get behind businesses in the North

-

IT has finally arrived, our first weekend since March where we have the ability to travel anywhere in the state.

While the chance to head down to the Gold Coast for some surf or Brisbane for a jolt of the big city may seem appealing, let’s keep our energies focused in North

Queensland.

There are businesses throughout Townsville and the surrounding regions that need our assistance to get back on their feet after a rough trot.

Why not head down for a day trip to Bowen and have a poke around? Or head to Charters Towers and see how the locals out there are faring? Maybe scoot up north and visit Ingham or Cardwell and support local shops?

When you return, why not visit a Townsville pub tonight for a meal and cheer on the mighty North Queensland Cowboys?

Even though we aren’t allowed in Queensland Country Bank Stadium, we can still gather in small groups and get behind the boys.

Despite the fact our shackles feel loose, we still need to remain vigilant with social distancing and remain smart at all times.

Australia is still recording deaths from COVID-19 and many in our society are still at high risk.

Although we have been lucky in the North, it only takes one person from down south carrying the virus without knowing and putting us back to square one.

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen and the rest of the year is a cracker.

Have a great weekend and go the Cowboys.

And good luck to young Tom

Gilbert making his debut.

The region is behind you and we all can’t wait to see you get stuck in and play well.
