A GROUP of frustrated parents are standing up for their children after a spate of assaults left them scared for their safety.

Mother Kathy Davies Green said “enough is enough” after her 12-year-old daughter and a friend were attacked by a group of children while sitting on a park bench at Kelso.

The girls were chatting “like normal kids” after a visit to the shops when the group approached them like a “pack of wild dogs”, smashing bottles and threatening to crush their heads.

A violent scuffle erupted when one of the children grabbed the innocent friend by the hair, pulled her to the ground and punched her in the face.

This shocking incident was not isolated, with Ms Davies Green saying two other incidents happened at the weekend involving young children.

Upper Ross Police Facility officer in charge Matthew Dixon said an 11-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were accosted for their bike on Monday near Baldock St.

Another mother reported a similar incident happened to her 15-year-old daughter as she walked down the street.

The mother, who did not want to be named, said she listened to her distressed daughter over the phone after she was punched in the face.

The young girl was screaming and crying down the phone line as she ran from the incident.

“It was so scary for us listening to our daughter being so scared and trying to run as fast as we could to get to them,” she said.
