SPECIAL FEATURE Schools of Excellence

-

MORE than a dozen local schools will feature in our Schools of Excellence special liftout next week.

The Townsville Bulletin takes a close look at what makes so many of our schools excellent. We have also asked students what they thought about their school.

William Ross High School student Chloe Tawse spoke highly of her school for establishing “great leaders of the future”.

“Since enrolling at William Ross State High School, I have been offered many great opportunities to establish great life skills, and create an amazing high school experience,” she said.

“As the first Year 7 cohort to start at high school, the support received from the staff and teachers helped ease the stress and pressure of the change.

“Throughout my six years of attending William Ross, I have had many first-hand experiences in helping me grow as an individual.

“The high standard resources, great learning environments and friendly, supportive teachers have really made a difference and a memorable experience for me.

“These experiences have remarkably influenced my fellow students and I as they have shaped us into great leaders and have gifted us with a life-changing memory we will never forget.”

Student Lachlan Carey said Townsville Grammar School was a place where there were opportunities for everyone to excel.

“Whether you are interested in sport, music, science or any other subject, there are facilities and fantastic teachers to support you to grow in that area,” he said.

Year 6 student Cooper de Lange said St Joseph’s Catholic

School The Strand was a small school with a big heart.

“We get to dream big and use technology to help us learn every day,” he said.

Anna Baxter said St Patrick’s College Townsville was a place made by women for women.

“Each generation of young ladies is nurtured and encouraged to be better than they ever believed they could be,” she said.

You can find out what students from across the region think about their school in our Schools of Excellence special feature on Tuesday, June 30.
