Trio of crashes in just 10 hours

-

EMERGENCY services were kept busy in North Queensland on Thursday evening and yesterday morning after a spate of bad traffic crashes.

The carnage began when a 19-year-old male crashed his motorcycle into a tree on Duckworth St in Garbutt.

Emergency services were notified of the accident just before 10pm on Thursday and treated the male at the scene.

The 19-year-old was reported to have multiple serious injuries, including numerous fractures, and was transported to the Townsville University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A spokesman for the hospital yesterday said he was still in hospital in a stable condition.

Emergency services then had to deal with a road train rollover on the Flinders Highway yesterday morning.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they received a call at 6.16am about a road train crash between Julia Creek and Cloncurry.

The QFES successfully extricated the driver from the vehicle before he was assessed by paramedics on scene.

The man was transported to Cloncurry Hospital in a stable condition with minor face and chest injuries.

The chaos concluded a couple of hours later when an 18year-old male rolled his car on the Ring Rd in Condon.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said they received a call at 7.44am about a rolled car on an off ramp near Riverway Drive.

The car ended up on its roof at the end of the crash and it’s believed the driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The QAS transported the 18-year-old to hospital in a stable condition.
