Mango man a true icon

-

AFTER 30 years of tempting travellers with tasty treats, Frosty Mango has become a North Queensland icon and a must-stop on the Bruce Highway to the north.

With road trips the only way to travel these school holidays, there’s no better excuse to indulge in a feast of fresh fruits, sorbets, ice creams and jams. Owner Alf Poefinger said Frosty Mango was the gateway to tropical North Queensland.

“We have cranked up our sorbet, icecream and jam production, we will be ready for our customers,” he said.

“Frosty Mango has had very humble beginnings but after 30 years, it has become an icon.”

Mr Poefinger has been growing, picking and turning fruit from his orchard into smoothies and ice cream since 1989. Frosty Mango serves up the tastiest delights free from preservatives and additives and made from all-natural ingredients and fruits grown on the orchard.

Mr Poefinger said they were ready for the winter crowd of travellers.

“We still have distance restrictions of 1.5 metres, other than that, we have table service again, inside and under the veranda,” he said.

A few of the exotic fruits currently in season are carambola, rambutans, bananas, black Sapote, pineapple, cumquats and rosellas. “Some of those fruits we turn in to sorbets and jams, all are also available for sale of the fruit trolleys,” Mr Poefinger said.

Stop in on your next family road trip and discover, or rediscover, why Frosty Mango is a true icon of the tropical North. Your tastebuds will thank you for it.
