$50 voucher a day on offer
CHARTERS Towers residents will have the chance to win $50 shopping vouchers every day from July 1 until December 30.
The Charters Towers Chamber of Commerce and Mines is giving away $6500 in vouchers, which can only be spent at participating local businesses.
Chamber president Wayne Miller said the executive committee wanted to do something to stimulate spending locally post COVID-19 and felt it important to give back to Charters Towers businesses.
“The purpose is to give residents money that they can spend in town,” Mr Miller said.
“This is about spending the money locally to improve the businesses locally.”
The competition will run Monday to Friday each week with the winners of the $50 vouchers being randomly selected from names in the phone book using a random computer program.
Mr Miller said once the winner was identified, the chamber would contact them to let them know.
There are 65 businesses that have come on board to accept the vouchers, and winners will be able to choose where they can spend the money.
Signs will appear at the participating businesses so people know where to shop.
Mr Miller said it was not a chamber members only deal, with many of the businesses involved not members.
“Obviously we do appreciate people joining the chamber, because with more chamber members we have a strong alliance, but this promotion isn’t about increasing member numbers,” he said.
