Driver reverses his way into a police vehicle and a court appearance

A 25-YEAR-OLD Charters Towers man who reversed into a police car at a service station will appear in court charged with drink-driving.

The man was driving a Holden sedan at 10.10am on June 27 when he reversed into the police vehicle, although there was only minor damage done to either vehicle as a result.

Police will allege the driver had a blood alcohol concentrat­ion of 0.156 per cent.

He was also charged with driving without due care and attention, driving an unregister­ed and uninsured vehicle, driving while the holder of a learner’s permit without Lplates displayed and using cancelled number plates.

He will appear in the Charters Towers Magistrate­s Court on August 10.

Unlicensed drivers

A Brisbane man was issued a $204 infringeme­nt notice for driving while unlicensed after he was stopped on the Flinders Highway at 10am on June 26.

Police said the driver, who was driving a Toyota ute, was allegedly found to have an expired licence.

A 44-year-old Charters Towers man was also fined for driving unlicensed that same day.

The man, in a Mazda ute, was pulled over by police at 3.30pm on Ann St.

He was issued a $204 fringement notice.

Noise complaint

Police issued a $266 fine to a 48-year-old woman who failed to comply with a noise abatement direction.

Police were called to a property at 3.30pm on June 27 after responding to a noise complaint at the same address the night before.

Drug offences

Police seized a quantity of methamphet­amines, cocaine, marijuana and drug utensils during the search of a vehicle at 9.10pm on June 27.

Police had pulled over the car for a roadside test and will allege the 20-year-old Tablelands man was seen attempting to hand something to another person as he was being detained.

He has been charged with multiple drug possession offences and will appear in the Charters Towers Magistrate­s Court on August 10.

A Charters Towers man was pulled over in Victory St, Queenton, at 12.45am, June 29.

Police allegedly found the 32-year-old in possession of a small amount of marijuana and other drug utensils. He was directed by police to complete a drug diversion program.
