- IS HOLMES A WINGER OR A FULLBACK?

THE shift of Valentine Holmes es from fullback to the wing has as showed no one in the Cowboys line ne up is safe from the selection axe.

However his move to the flank nk may not be a matter of form, but ut rather where he best fits into the he team and plays his best football.

Holmes made a name for himmself on the wing for the Cronulla lla Sharks, ascending to become a staple in the Queensland State of

MARSTERS V J. MORRIS ROOSTERS centre Josh Morris has proved age is just a number as he and his twin brother have electrified the NRL. His rival tonight Esan Marsters has endured a far tougher season, and this could be the Kiwi international’s biggest test yet. At 33, Morris is at a point where typically players lose their spark, but the veteran has seemingly gone from strength to strength. Meanwhile Marsters, having been such a highly touted recruit, has struggled defensively since the competition returned with coach Paul Green calling on him to improve fast. Both have experience playing for their nation under their belt, but with one in such great form the other will need to rediscover his best for the Cowboys to avoid another devastating loss.

After his side’s lacklustre performance against Wests Tigers he called out his teammates to honour the North Queensland jersey, and he has consistently backed up his words with relentless output on the field.

Last week he was one of only two Cowboys forwards to run for over 100m – a feat he has achieved all but once this season. Waerea-hargreaves has developed a reputation as one of the most hard-nosed and feared props in the NRL, and the pair will be eager to get one up over the other at QCB Stadium. walked the walk thus far for the

HOLMES V B. MORRIS

MUCH like his twin, Brett Morris has been a revelation for the tricolours in 2020.

However his match-up against another State of Origin star in Valentine Holmes could be the most exciting of the night at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

Holmes has moved from fullback to the position he announced himself as a force in – both to solidify the Cowboys’ edge defence and open the door for young gun Hamiso Tabuai-fidow to make a claim to the No. 1 jersey.

His record on the wing speaks for itself – with 45 tries from 64 games there, including nine in his past six. Meanwhile Morris has continued to score tries with ease, his effort last week making him just the seventh player in premiership history to score 160 four-pointers. The pair are among the most highly rated wingers in the game – one gifted with blistering pace and an unparalleled finishing ability, the other a timeless warrior who only seems to get better with age. Lateral attacking play could be the feature of this clash as the sides attempt to get the best out of their respective dynamos.
