Cowboys a no-show so far in 2020

-

THE fans aren’t happy, the players aren’t happy and anyone with an ounce of football interest in North Queensland is beyond concerned.

We can’t sugar coat it: the North Queensland Cowboys are in strife. Deep strife. And that’s being polite.

It’s hit many of us like a ton of bricks after a build up to this season like no other. A new stadium, the hometown boy returning from his US adventure and an exciting roster that rivals any in the NRL.

Flash forward six months and the Cowboys haven’t fired a shot. They’ve wandered out of the saloon for a shootout and have taken six bullets to the chest before even getting their gun out of the holster.

After back to back drubbings, with both the Parramatta Eels and Sydney Roosters embarrassing the side in seven days, the fans are crying out for change.

They want answers, they want commitment. We all do.

While some have called for coach Paul Green to be punted, others are saying that’s not the answer.

They want the 17 players who throw the jersey on each week to shape up, and rightly so.

These are the fans who bought merchandise, memberships and follow the club like their life depends on it.

Plenty of fans paid their full season membership before a ball was kicked.

Not only did they miss out on numerous games because of COVID, now they have to watch their team get humbled week in, week out.

With many in North Queensland still doing it tough from the lockdown, let alone the Townsville floods from

2019, the Cowboys were meant to be their escape.

Now that escape has turned into a nightmare.

Just like Coen Hess said, “Get us out of this mess.”
