DELTA TO BRING HER VOICE TO OUR CITY

- KATE BANVILLE

ONE of the biggest names in Australian music is coming to Townsville as part of a national tour.

Aria award-winning singer, songwriter and The Voice coach Delta Goodrem is hitting the road for her first national in four years, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams.

The tour takes its name from her latest track Keep Climbing and will feature Let It Rain, a charity single written in response to the bushfire tragedy, and other songs from her back catalogue.

The pop princess will perform in Townsville on April 29 next year at the Townsville Entertainment Centre. Goodrem said the national tour was an opportunity to share the “magic” of live music when people needed something positive to look forward to.

“Visually, I love to make sure a tour represents the energy of what this new album embodies,” she said. “There are going to be incredible musical moments in bringing to life the surprise elements of this new album and all of the favourites from my previous records.

“I know many people are going through challenging times right now (but) come next year I want to invigorate and empower everybody in the room to have the best night of their lives and we’ll sing and dance through it all.”

Goodrem’s last album, Wings of the Wild, debuted at No. 1 and featured the platinum hit song Wings, the singer’s ninth No. 1 single. The album’s accompanying sold-out arena tour broke records as Goodrem became the highest-selling female Australian touring artist in 2016 and the tour’s live concert DVD hit No. 1 on the ARIA Charts.

Goodrem has had four ARIA No. 1 albums, 16 ARIA Awards, three World Music Awards, a Silver Logie and an MTV Music Video Award, and coached the winner of The Voice in 2016 and 2017.

Tickets are available at Ticketek.
