Great read Tony Raggatt on NQ seats but political analysts John Mickel and Maxine Newlands failed to mention – Thuringowa: Aaron Harper on crime has a personal popularity problem; if the preference flow between LNP, KAP and ONP is tight, he’s gone. Prediction KAP or ONP. Townsville: LNP do not have the smart Casie Scott who even garnered some Green preferences last election. Hathaway is no Casie Scott. Prediction – LNP narrowly. Mundingburra: Labor never expected to hang on last time round. Prediction – LNP easily.

PEDRO CRANBROOK

GJ. HYDE PARK, I feel I have to come to the defence of Pauline Hanson here. For a start, she’s not racist. You obviously hate anyone who represents the silent majority, and that includes the entire Sky News team, who’ve had a gutful of ongoing leftie toxic negativity that these days floods the airwaves non stop. That’s why they’ve found it necessary to set up an alternate program to give the silent majority a voice, to counteract all this stupid PC and insane Cancel Culture that seems to be taking over our lives ad nauseam. It really is about time people with the ability to think for themselves had a win for a change. Pauline for PM.

Seeing people lining up cheek by jowl outside nightclubs in Brisbane, we know these will be the ones to blame if we have a coronavirus outbreak, and won’t they whinge! Honestly, do none of them have a brain? Do they think they’re immune? They’ll be the first to snivel when Puddleduck closes nightclubs and venues because of their behaviour.

AGS HERMIT PK

What a pity there was a group of empty jumpers on the ground again against the Roosters. Paul Green looks extremely stressed and should be rested for the remainder of the season (not sacked) and Johnathan Thurston asked to step in to coach. He is acquainted with the players and is highly thought of. Also the remainder of their home games should be back at Smiles stadium because the surface at the new ground is chopping up and needs to consolidate a lot better.

PAUL IDALIA

Send the bunker to the bunker for a review. Hope the GF isn’t decided on a bunker decision.

BLUEWATER BOB

Certainly agree that young kids need to be funnelled out of crime. Perhaps the Public Guardian could guard their welfare, Child Safety could keep them safe, and the Law Society could apply the law sensibly to separate those who are at risk from the already career crims before they hit their teens. Police say there is a hardened core of offenders who know exactly what they are doing and other kids as well as the community should be protected from them.

MAX, CRANBROOK

There’s plenty of lessons to learn from this Covid crisis. From social distancing to not being dependent on other countries, but for me one of the outstanding things that needs addressing is the outdated idea that we need states. From the patchy responses to the bushfires to the quarantining of entire states, regional responses supported directly by the Federal Government would have been far more effective than the random and often contradictory actions of state authorities. There is absolutely nothing a state government does that isn’t already done at federal or regional government level. The states are nothing but an expensive middle man that consumes taxpayers’ money and confuses solutions.

GC HERMIT PARK

Another flight from Melbourne. How is this possible if the Victoria border is closed? Obviously the expert parliament staff have allowed this. Those staff members should be the ones who meet them and put them up for quarantine.

I noted that the media are now calling the PM’S outing to watch his footy team play on Saturday “Hawaii Next Moment”. Surely our leaders, federal and state, are entitled to a break, however short, for some relaxation. They haven’t deserted their posts and I’m sure are contactable at all times. Back to the PM. He was also accused of not social distancing or wearing a mask. I didn’t see anybody too close to him as the camera panned around. Hello? Was anyone else at the footy wearing a mask? Let’s acknowledge that our leaders, whether we agree with them or not, are trying to do what they and their health advisers think is the best. Anyone out there want to be PM or premier?

DOT FROM DOUGLAS

Laws pertaining to age of responsibility in Queensland are decided by the people, not the national Council of Attorneys-general and certainly not the Labor Party. So let’s get this correct, MLAS in Queensland need to ballot constituents to find out what the majority want. This is true representational democracy.

BRENDAN BELL 4815

Re crime age bid. If all these agencies want the age of responsibility raised to 14 years then they also take responsibility for the young little darlings’ crimes and restitution to victims. Power comes with restrictions and responsibility.

M J REYNOLDS MT LOUISA

Our community in Townsville district is already suffering major trauma and financial disadvantage from criminals as young as 10 breaking into our homes and stealing our cars. If the Queensland government makes a law that children under 14 should not be detained for the crimes they commit, chaos will result.

GIGI/ANNANDALE

It looks as though Queensland will have to close its borders again. We can’t afford to let Covid back in here.

JOE BLAKE

I see the quad bike grubs of Bluewater have been at it again over the weekend, trying to damage the taxpayer funded road work. Obviously not a problem to them, as they no doubt don’t contribute in that regard. If it’s your kids, take the bloody bikes off them until they can use them responsibly. They shouldn’t be on the road reserve anyway.

NOT IMPRESSED 4818

Col Rosslea – the ACCC did a study a few years ago showing that over-investment in network infrastructure (”gold-plating”) was the primary driver of higher electricity prices from 2007-16. High coal and gas prices also contributed. The solution to high power bills is cheap, clean renewables with storage (and no, they haven’t “taken over from coal” yet).

STEVE, BELGIAN GARDENS

TB 13/7 Dear Mr Stark, please do yourself a favour and get a copy of the Diary of Anne Frank. A young Jewish girl who hid in an attic with her family to escape the Nazis. You on the other hand sound like a petulant child! You will have your freedom after isolation. It’s a small inconvenience at this time for people who are travelling. Where would you rather be? Above ground or 6ft under?

OLD GIRL 4817

What’s with the Stockland plaza trolley collection trailer being registered in Victoria? Didn’t think trailer rego in Queensland was that expensive? And was it isolated for two weeks before being put into service?

Storm of texts Bulletin Friday from the short term memory crowd. They can’t remember it was the Liberals who sold public assets such as Telstra, the Port of Darwin, cargo section of ANL and the C Wealth Oil Refineries as far back as Menzies.

JJ WULGURU

Oh, for goodness sake, Peter Campion, get off the conspiracy websites. COVID-19 isn’t a hoax and it certainly isn’t “just the flu”. You haven’t found out any special secret knowledge and you definitely do not know more than the doctors and scientists who have researched this sort of thing all their lives. You aren’t some sort of erudite “debater”, you’re the annoying little kid kicking the back of the seat while the health professionals are trying to keep the car on the road.

THE CREDIBLE HULK MT LOUISA

Thomas of West End in Brisbane says he won’t vote for KAP. Correct Tom, the KAP doesn’t have a candidate for there. Suggest you stick with Jackie Trad.

BILL FROM PENTLAND

Could the Member for Mundingburra Ms O’rourke please come and engage in conversation with her constituents regarding the public housing development on Ross River Rd. The Labor member seems to be incapable or unwilling to inform her electorate of the multi unittwo storey public housing development and it is causing a lot of anxiety and stress. Minister O’rourke, your role as an elected member of the people is to talk to the people, please acknowledge this text by either knocking on doors, letterbox drop or even smoke signals. Give us a sign to show you care.

SHOELACE 4812

MP Nick Dametto is on the wrong track if he thinks that Lake Julius is in the middle of nowhere. It’s just a stone’s throw ‘east’ of Mt

Isa. M.THOMAS 4824

When is Green going to realise that he needs to put Jake Granville in the side? At least he knows how to tackle.

K. KIRWAN

One disgruntled supporter. Cowboys buy in all the imports from everywhere. Never using our young talent coming through our local grades. Since the Cowboys board can’t do the job, I think we as supporters need to boycott the Cowboys until they replace Paul Green and his support staff. If nothing is done soon Cowboys will have no supporters at all. I for one won’t be renewing my membership until Green has gone.

AR CURRAJONG

The concept of water security for Townsville has been mishandled from day one. It should have always been a gravity feed solution instead of an occasionally used white elephant.

MT LOUISA AL

?? ?? Garth I agree with you as to the point of bad repair of pavements around Townsville. I have to use a wheelie walker due to macular in both eyes. I was about to make a complaint about how difficult my days are getting around without tipping over. There must be a lot of disabled who dread going out on their own due to the broken concrete. Thank you Garth for your comments. SUNBIRD
