Time to wield broom

-

I’M a 78-year-old resident of our great city.

Like many others, I’m appalled at the ever-increasing crime rate that infests the honest people of Townsville.

The present Labor/green government is not handling the situation with any sense of urgency.

We have an election coming up at the end of October. I will be voting for someone that does.

At the outset, I will say that I’m an LNP supporter. I would like to explain why.

I was a union member for more than 40 years of my working life.

When I worked, the union movement was the backbone of the Labor Party. Not so now.

The Greens have taken over that role. Their second preference votes get many Labor candidates over the line at election time.

This is why progress of our great state, especially north of Rockhampton, has slowed to a crawl.

No dams are built, flying foxes reign supreme, as do the activists that are allowed to demonstrate at will.

The Labor Party has some good ideas at times but they lack the nous to handle the economy. Time after time they have shown that they have no idea how to budget, and how to spend the taxpayers dollars fairly around the state.

On the other hand, the LNP have shown this ability both at federal and state level.

After Covid-19 has abated, Queensland and Australia will take 20 years to recover fully, economically.

We will need a government that is able to do this. Forward thinking, new young ideas will be the only way to move forward.

My electorate is Hinchinbrook. I have recently met and talked with Scott Piper the endorsed LNP candidate for Hinchinbrook.

I was very impressed.

Scott is a young guy who is a small business owner but much more than that. He has an economic mind, realising the huge task ahead for the incoming Queensland government.

He is one of those young people that is prepared to look ahead, a forward-thinking type of young fella, and not looking into a mirror to make sure that they look good for their next press conference.

Many electors are becoming frustrated with politicians in general and are choosing to vote for a candidate from a minor party.

An elected member of a minor party may look good, saying all the right things but is
