TB story “Bailed children” 22 July, really brings home the incompetence of our current soft on crime Govt, 5 years of out of control crime, only one way to change this direction, vote for change this October TR4818

RE Palmer St makeover, let’s hope this time they actually make more car parks rather than taking them away. Oh, and don’t make it that we have to catch a bus from somewhere else, like the stadium. RICK M 4817

What a joke JT and wife. Concerned about the safety of your children. You don’t own your footpath. And I would strongly advise against your children being on the road. Tell the truth, you don’t want an aged care home in your area.

OLD GIRL AITKENVALE.

JT played in one of the toughest sports. Yet he is scared of some older men and women. Mate you have dropped in my book. Just because you and your mates are so called royalty!! So it’s ok in someone else’s back yard just not yours? Pretty selfish.

Mr and Mrs Thurston, I hope one day your parents never need aged care help. GAIL THOMAS, KIRWAN.

To all those complaining about the upgrade of the Rowes Bay Retirement home, you or a loved one may have call for being in one of these facilities one day. Wouldn’t you like them to live in comfort? That home has been there since the late 1990’s. You’d have something to complain about if a juvenile delinquent “care” home was in your area like other suburbs in Tsv. Show some compassion for the aged! JEN MUNDINGBURRA 4812

Ruthless letting the coach go. He can’t be held responsible for half the team being out injured. How can he have a winning team with only a handful of experienced players. Thankyou coach Green, I’m sure you gave it your best shot. Good luck to you and your family in your next venture. We will miss you. 4818

To the clowns that turn right off boundry street into brodie street (office works), just what part of double lines can’t you understand ?

TOM. SOUTH TOWNSVILLE.

If Phillip Thompson MP is genuine and serious about his concern for the many homeless people in Townsville living rough, as reported on p10 of The Bulletin yesterday, why isn’t he supporting the planned social housing development in Mundingburra? HJL TOWNSVILLE

Re kiddy crims Even my mother’s 10 year old dog knows right from wrong. Why not them?? LILLY 4814

A government-funded anti-tobacco advertisement claims smokers are more likely to catch COVID-19. What complete rubbish. Smoking kills off the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors in the lungs that COVID-19 attacks, making smokers less likely to catch C19 than nonsmokers. What a moronic waste of our hard-earned money. MINER, KELSO

Hmm, so on one hand we have doctors and virologists worldwide saying that like other respiratory viruses, COVID-19 can be spread by airborne droplets and contaminated surfaces; on the other hand, we have Miner, who read some Facebook comment that said we just need to wipe our bums. Who to believe? (scratches chin) THE CREDIBLE HULK MT LOUISA

As much as I admire Johnathan Thurston, I don’t find his, and others, objections about the aged care facility in his neighbourhood, convincing. I assume the facility existed before the complainants moved there, and don’t accept that “young children use the footpaths and occasionally, the roads” is a valid reason to stop the development. Old people deserve the right to live well, and, I didn’t know children were permitted to play on roads. AGS HERMIT PK
