Bumping along nicely

- TRUDY BROWN

GROWTH is the driving force behind businesswoman Marg Hourston’s third move in four years.

The owner of Bump 2 Bub in Charters Towers has just relocated to a new premises at 88 Gill St and she’s excited about the move.

“I moved to the Gill St store from Elizabeth St because I needed more space,” Marg said.

“I had no storage at the last store. And I outgrew the first store at 172 Gill St really quickly.”

Marg opened the store in 2016 after her daughter Belinda found herself travelling to Townsville to get maternity wear and baby needs.

She figured there was a gap in the market and decided to start up a store catering to mums and babies “from scratch”.

“We branched out from having baby and maternity wear to cots and car seats,” Marg said.

“We have children’s clothing and girls’ sizes up to a 16 and clothing small enough for premmie babies, five and six zeros.”

Marg is quick to stress the clothing she does have in store isn’t all for expectant mums.

“It’s not all about maternity, it’s about covering bumps,” she said, laughing and pointing to her own curvy figure.

“We’ve got ladies’ sizes six to 26 and we get ladies of all ages in here looking for something different. The ladieswear is all Australianmade and it’s all affordable.

“The most expensive dress I have in the store is $130 and that’s an evening dress.”

The store sells clothing, giftware, toys for children under eight, babywear, feeding equipment, cots, prams, car seats and more.

Marg hopes to have a mother’s breastfeeding room set up soon to give mums a private place to go to feed their babies when they are in town.

She said she was looking forward to people coming into the store to see what she had on offer.

“As time goes on we’ll see what else we can do,” she said.

Tim Nelson, from

Cub Sport, has one of the country’s most captivating voices. Their fourth album was held back from a mid-iso-release, yet is their most intimate and intense offering. With its distorted vocals, Confessions recalls Twisted Fantasy-era Kanye as Nelson does lyrical open heart surgery. My Dear (Can I Tell You My Greatest Fear) lets that tender voice soar,
