Airnorth re-establishes Gold Coast link
A FAVOURITE holiday destination for Australians and international tourists alike will once again be able to be accessed directly from Townsville Airport.
Airnorth have announced the resumption of services to Australia’s favourite playground, the Gold Coast, from August 2.
The service will operate twice weekly every Sunday and Wednesday between Townsville and the Gold Coast until the end of September.
The flights will provide further connectivity between Airnorth’s Queensland destinations and a much-needed boost to the state’s tourism industry as domestic travel begins to pick up.
“We are delighted to see travel confidence growing and be in a position to offer special services that will allow Queenslanders to reconnect with loved ones across the state and enable Australian’s to get back out there and travel again,” Airnorth chief executive officer Daniel Bowden said.
“This is the third intrastate route for Queensland that Airnorth has resumed in recent weeks following the recent announcements of operations between Toowoomba and Townsville and Toowoomba and Cairns.”
Townsville Airport chief operating officer Kevin Gill welcomed the return of the service, saying the quick and easy flights would be an attractive option for leisure and business travellers.
“This re-establishes an important link between Townsville and the Gold Coast, as well as supporting services to Darwin,” Mr Gill said.
