MAN ‘RUN OVER TWICE’

- SAM FLANAGAN

A 20-YEAR-OLD man remains in hospital after he was reportedly hit by two cars on Thursday night.

The incident occurred about 8pm in Paxton Street, North Ward, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

On arrival, paramedics and a surgeon began treating the man for significant head and lower limb injuries.

Flashing lights of the emergency services vehicles lit up the street as residents of the area stood and watched the unfolding scene.

A spokesman from Queensland Police said they were looking into whether a second car hit the man after he had already been struck.

It’s believed police have spoken to the drivers of both vehicles and other witnesses as their investigations continue.

The man was transported to the Townsville University Hospital on Thursday night.

He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. If you have any information, call Policelink on 13 14 44.

Emergency services received a call around 8.30am that a man had fallen about 2m off a truck in Langton Street.

Paramedics treated the man for serious head injuries at the scene before transporting him in a serious condition.

It’s believed the man is in his 30s.

It’s unclear at this stage whether police or Workplace Health and Safety will investigate.
