FRIENDS RALLY TO HELP LARZ OUT

-

MONEY is being raised for a 20-year-old man who remains in a critical condition and needs a facial reconstruction after being hit by two cars last week.

Larz Reardon was hit by a car about 8pm on Paxton Street in North Ward last Thursday.

He was treated by paramedics on site before being transported to the Townsville University Hospital in a critical condition with severe head and leg injuries.

Police inquiries on the night found that a second car is believed to have also struck Mr Reardon during the incident.

People close to Mr Reardon have begun a Gofundme campaign to raise $5000 for his family to assist with the ongoing medical bills.

“We have started a go fund me (sic) page for our good friend Larz,” the page reads.

“Thursday the 13th of August the unthinkable happened, Larz was involved in a terrible accident leaving a long road to recovery and a lot of medical bills and medical care.

“He is currently still in hospital … his family have travelled here to be with him, and also his girlfriend is by his side.

“As you would be well aware, his bills and expenses would be hitting hard at the moment, his ability to ever work again is unclear, so to help him and his family stay afloat and get back on their feet it’s the least we can do by sparing a little bit of money toward them in this time of need.

“We will keep this page updated as we find out more about Larz’s condition. He is a strong lad and we hope to see him up and about soon.”

The fundraiser had reached $4496 on Tuesday evening.

A spokesman for the Townsville University Hospital said Mr Reardon was in a critical but stable condition.

Police are still investigating the incident.
