Driver charged

POLICE have charged a Charters Towers man with drugdrivin­g and unlicensed driving after he was stopped in the early hours yesterday. The 41year-old Toyota station wagon driver was stopped for a random roadside test at 1.28am yesterday on Mount Leyshon Rd. Police allege the man produced a positive saliva test and he was unlicensed. His vehicle was immobilise­d for seven days and he was given a notice of licence suspension, which will apply until he appears in court. The man will appear in court on October 19.

Unlicensed

A CHARTERS Towers man will appear in court next month for allegedly driving while unlicensed. The 38-yearold was charged after he was intercepte­d in a Mitsubishi sedan at 11.50pm in Gill St on Monday. Police allege checks showed the man’s licence had been suspended due to demerit points.

Twice the limit

A TOWNSVILLE man allegedly drove with a blood-alcohol concentrat­ion of more than double the legal limit in Charters Towers on Saturday. Police intercepte­d the 40-yearold male driving a Ford sedan in Mosman St at 2.30am. It is alleged he had a BAC of .123 per cent. He will appear in the Charters Towers Magistrate­s Court on September 7.

Big fine

FINES totalling $960 have been issued to a man caught driving an unregister­ed and uninsured vehicle. Police allege the 30-year-old man’s vehicle was uninsured and unregister­ed when he was intercepte­d on Mosman St at 10.50pm on Friday.

Truckie busted

A TRUCK driver will have to pay $2241 in fines after being caught behind the wheel of an uninsured and unregister­ed vehicle. The Mackay man, 31, was stopped on the Flinders Highway at Breddan, in a white Isuzu truck, on August 13 at 3pm. Police said after checks showed the status of the registrati­on, the man was issued fines of $1601 for driving an unregister­ed vehicle and $640 for driving an uninsured vehicle.

Petrol drive-off

POLICE are investigat­ing an alleged fuel drive-off at a Gill St service station. They are seeking to speak to a person of interest who was driving a blue Hyundai station wagon at 4pm on August 12. It is alleged $65 of fuel was not paid for.

No licence

A CHARTERS Towers man, 46, will appear in court on September 21 after he allegedly drove without a licence on August 12. Police allege the man was driving a Holden sedan at 12.45pm on Natal Downs Rd when checks showed he didn’t have a licence. The man was charged with driving a motor vehicle having never been the holder of a driver’s licence.
