Politicians, hopefuls must hear the calls to fix city’s crime woes

-

OUR political parties have become so focused on remaining in or winning government, they have conveniently forgotten or ignored the fact they were elected to represent their constituents here in the crime capital of Australia (Townsville), however instead they follow their Brisbane party directives.

The fact is we are being made to live with a crisis in juvenile crime that is causing loss of property, fear and division in our community as the current system is broken and does not reflect community expectations.

To say this has been a journey of frustration and disbelief would be an understatement. Every time we come up against a blockage, we ask ourselves why we are doing this, as it seems very few people even care. For 10 months we have always said it would take all levels of government to get together in an action session to start the generational change we require and after COVID-19 we are even more determined.

We ask how anyone can deny, including the Premier and Opposition Leader, that we have a juvenile crime crisis in Townsville.

Now it’s over to you, so please let your representatives or those who you wish to represent us know we are demanding action before the next election.

If it’s not done before the next election, then the last seven plus years of misery will just continue.

How long will it be or what will it take for our community to speak up and accept the truth.
