Decision to expand really takes off Pair glad to have base

- TONY RAGGATT

FAMILY business T-BA Diesel has expanded to Townsville by popular demand.

The business is operated by diesel fitter Joshua Mallardi who has moved back from Toowoomba after he received so many requests for work he decided to relocate.

“I got offered something good and we expanded and came up here,” Mr Mallardi said.

“I guess I have a good reputation. Everybody knows me from here to Mount Isa and I’ve spent time working in Cloncurry, so you get to know people.

“If you do a good job, people don’t forget that.”

White Commercial said T-BA Diesel leased a 400 sqm workshop on a 2000 sqm industrial site which had always been well occupied because of its easy access for heavy vehicles.

“Despite the continued uncertainty across the Australian community regarding COVID-19, we continue to see strong levels of industrial leasing demand with buyers eagerly competing for stock and looking forward beyond the pandemic,” Mr Townsend said.

The business has leased a shed and yard in Garbutt which has access for B doubles via Woolcock and Pilkington streets. Mr Mallardi said it was a good shed at the right price.

It would be a home base for T-BA Diesel which has been a mobile diesel fitting service.

The business specialises in truck and trailer maintenance and repairs for all areas of the transport industry. It also operates a 24-hour breakdown service.

Joshua’s partner, Samara, said the business had operated for about three years and, now with two young children in the family, it was good for them to be together in Townsville.

“We originally started as a mobile diesel fitting business. We wanted to have a home business as well where people can come to us. We work on all the trucks and trailers, all the big prime movers and trailers,” Samara said.

“It’s been a really good move to expand our business. Our phone has not stopped ringing.”
