THE state election kicked off this week with the major parties trying to sway voters with millions of dollars in promises.
The Townsville Bulletin kicked off the week with a series of livestreamed debates to give our readers a chance to understand where the candidates are coming from.
On Tuesday night, candidates vying for the seat of Townsville had a fiery battle on the issue of crime. On Wednesday night, the Hinchinbrook candidates fought over reef regulations and jobs.
The Burdekin candidates joined the fray on Thursday night to explain why they should be voted in on October 31.
Next week, the Bulletin ups the ante with two live-streamed debates at The Ville Resort Casino, hosted by Peter Gleeson.
The former Townsville Bulletin and Sunday Mail editor and now Sky News presenter will host an event streamed live on the townsvillebulletin.com.au and couriermail.com.au websites.
First up at noon on Tuesday is the debate for Thuringowa.
Incumbent Aaron Harper will try to defend his record and show readers why they should not move their vote to the LNP or KAP.
The Mundingburra debate will be from noon on Wednesday, and newly endorsed candidate for Labor Les Walker will make his stand for election.
The debates are a great chance for readers to have look at the new crop of 2020 candidates.
But if you can’t make the noon debates don’t worry, they will be replayed on the Townsville Bulletin website all the way up until the election.
