LNP candidate has crime in her sights

-

MIKE Abraham (TB, 9/10) certainly has his finger on the pulse in his condemnation of the state government’s tardiness to curb the continuing crime in our city.

Only in recent weeks did Thuringowa’s share of the ‘three blind mice’ declare that the streets must be cleaned.

The present situation has been in existence for years now and the member could have/should have made this observation prior to the approaching election and not appeared so cynical.

The half-hearted attempt with the bail houses was an expensive flop.

It’s probable that Geoff and Vicki Toomby salvaged more juveniles from indolence and crime but received little recognition for their efforts.

Maybe change is around the corner. Recently we had a doorknock from the LNP candidate in Thuringowa – Natalie Marr. She is in step with the vast majority of Townsville citizens that crime is the dominant concern for locals.

Better still she has even been a member of a group of citizens who have banded together to fight crime. Such actions speak louder than words. I understand she has been busy doorknocking for some

weeks now. Seems to me that Thuringowans would best benefit by someone who is active in the community representing them in Brisbane rather Brisbane’s spokesman in our electorate.

By doorknocking and speaking to people she gets to know what their concerns are – something corflutes hanging from fences are unable to do.

So I’m with Mike Abraham. We sure don’t want another four years of ineptitude and ever increasing state debt.

KEVIN CUTLER, Kelso.
