TIME TO LAY OFF THE KAP

-

“BARNEY Belgian” (Text the Editor, 12/10), wants to know why various letters are attacking the LNP, when the Labor state government, is the worst for many decades.

Even though he spelt my name incorrectly, he has a point. The conservative right wing of politics is so fragmented, that no one can actually tell what party is what any more. KAP, PHON, PUAP etc, have all come out of what was once the National Party. During the 60s, 70s and 80s, Queensland flourished with mines, dams, rail and road projects, jobs and most of all less government.

The old National Party is not

and can never be the Liberal Party. The political chasm is way too wide to be bridged by simply a name change.

The LNP have spared no ‘venom’, in attacking Katter’s Australian Party, or One Nation.

Seeing that these minor parties are a direct threat to a majority government, the LNP have defaulted to voting with Labor for so many policies.

Yet, writers who are aligned with the Liberals, have spread their own venom to try and crush the minor parties who will keep either major party on track, should a minority government happen.

Minority governments have worked before, and they can do so again.

You may not have liked the outcomes, however a voting block in government, that is not required to answer to back room deals and personalities, is a thing for the major parties to fear. ‘Barney’, has failed to mention the lies and fabrications the LNP have thrown at KAP, for no reason other than to attempt to annihilate the competition.

Rusted-on support of the LNP has not delivered for our state, and even after the LNP voted with Labor on so many Bills and policies, LNP supporters still vote in the hope of something different.

Voting along party lines has not and will not deliver for the entire state of Queensland so why keep doing it?

The remnants of the once powerful National Party are now reduced to a ‘yes minister’, afterthought.

If the party was fair dinkum why are the LNP hierarchy approaching a feared, minor party like KAP, worried about the preference deal with the Greens. I wonder if “Barney Belgian” or “Carl Pimlico” (Texts 12/10) have considered this?

I totally agree with our “Barney”, the Labor Party is a disaster on disaster. It is not for me to ask the LNP why they have supported the Labor/greens coalition, maybe Barney could ask the LNP why they have done this?

I am not a member of the LNP, nor do I agree with their free market, sell to whoever policy.

A Labor/lnp/greens coalition is to be feared a lot more than an LNP/KAP coalition.

The North does not need this fight, the North needs Brisbane based parties to remember they govern for the entire state.

“Barney” is the problem, I am voting for the solution, what about you?

DEBRA GIBSON, Pinnacles.
