Official opening for development

A NEW residential development in Mount Louisa, Summerset Estate, has officially opened with its first stage almost sold out.

Mayor Jenny Hill, councillor Kurt Rehbein and the first land buyers in the estate, Susan Evans and John and Linda Swanson, attended an event to mark the opening this week.

Summerset Estate is a Mendi Group development located off Banfield Drive.

The local civil construction company has been constructing residential estates for 60 years.

Mendi Group managing director Jeff Doyle thanked his construction team for putting together the first stage, and residents who he said had been very co-operative during the construction period.

“The Mendi Group employs almost 100 people in the Townsville region and the Summerset project has only reinforced our commitment to the Townsville community,” he said.

“This project has allowed us to continue creating job growth and to provide economic stimulus for Townsville.

“Mendi are a proud locally owned business and we are pleased to be able to present a quality estate with a range of lot sizes at affordable prices.”

Mr Doyle said government incentives had created a lot of activity in the residential sector and that, if interest in the first stage was any guide, demand for land would continue to be very active.

With a total of 95 lots in the estate the chance to secure a block was limited, he said.

Sales have been launched on the second stage of another 16 lots, with completion of development scheduled for late November.

Lot sizes range

450sq m to 621sq m.
