MICHAEL BRUNKER LABOR
As a former coal miner and former mayor of Bowen Shire and Whitsunday Regional Councils for r over two decades, I have a proven track record of delivering outcomes for the people of Burdekin.
As a local born and bred, I know the challenges faced by our regional communities, families and local businesses.
Burdekin needs a strong plan for economic recovery and only the Palaszczuk Labor government can be trusted to deliver that. Our Premier has a strong plan to support agriculture and business, restore local jobs, and encourage more industry to North Queensland. Labor will continue to support health workers and rebuild our frontline workforce by investing $2.7 million to start planning for major redevelopments of the Bowen and
Moranbah hospitals.
We will deliver in infrastructure projects for sc schools by investing $6.1 m million in new facilities across th the region and support ed education and training with fr free TAFE and free ap apprenticeships to under 25s. Locals will have a say on how funding is prioritised for Burdekin roads by increasing the Bruce Highway Trust membership to include more regional voices.
To support our farmers and agriculture sector, irrigation water costs will be cut by 50 per cent for fruit and vegetable growers and 15 per cent for state irrigation schemes to grow crops and jobs under Labor.
A vote for me is a vote for better local jobs and a stable government with an economic recovery plan.
