Italian-born film producer born in 1919. He produced his first film in 1940 and either produced or coproduced more than 500 films in his career until his death in 2010, including Barbarella, Serpico, Dune and Hannibal.

Bushranger born in 1854. Taught by notorious outlaw Harry Power, Kelly was in trouble with the law as a teenager. After killing three police at Stringybar­k Creek in 1878 he and his gang went on a crime spree ending with a showdown at Glenrowan when he wore metal armour. He was captured, tried and executed in 1880 at Melbourne Gaol.

NOVEMBER 12

American actor born Eunice Mary Quedens in 1908. She started on Broadway but became famous in films such as Mildred Pearce,

Stage Door and Grease, and on TV shows such as Our Miss Brooks. She died in 1990.

NOVEMBER 13

Portuguese prince born in 1394, the son of King John I who is credited with encouragin­g and funding many great voyages of discovery. He died in 1460

British actor born Warren Misell in 1926. He started out in radio, on stage and in films but is best known as Alf Garnett from TV show Till Death Us Do Part. He died in 2015.

NOVEMBER 15

German astronomer born in 1571. His works on planetary motion were highly influentia­l, his observatio­ns and calculatio­ns providing proof of the Sun being at the centre of our solar system. He died in 1630.

US actor born in 1901. He made his acting debut as an extra in silent films in the 1920s but went on to become a sought after leading man in films such as Mutiny On The Bounty and Gone With The Wind. He died in 1960 of a heart attack.
