Chance to win $50 gift card in promo
MORE than $7000 worth of Shop the Hinchinbrook Way gift cards have been purchased as prizes for a massive giveaway promotion thanks to the generosity of Chamber of Commerce members.
Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre, Wilmar Sugar, Nick Dametto MP and the Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism have paid for 144 $50 gift cards to be given away during a six-month period.
Chamber president Rachael Coco confirmed anyone
who shopped locally would be able to enter the draw to win a $50 gift card.
She said the giveaway was a novel way to inject money into the economy while encouraging future sales of the community gift cards.
Wilmar Sugar’s Adam Douglas said the gift card giveaway presented “a unique opportunity to support small businesses and reward members of the community for shopping locally as we recover from COVID-19”.
“Wilmar Sugar is proud to be sponsoring the Shop the Hinchinbrook Way gift card
program as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the Herbert community,” Mr Douglas said.
“In addition to our donation to the promotion, we’ll also be purchasing gift cards in the future to reward our Victoria and Macknade Mill employees and to reinforce our commitment to the Go Local campaign.”
Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto said he was excited to support the initiative as a program sponsor.
The MP donated $1000 worth of gift cards in addition to his in-kind contributions.
“I have no doubt the Shop the Hinchinbrook Way community gift card program will encourage residents to buy local, and in turn boost our economy,” he said.
“The financial impact of COVID-19 has hit many businesses hard across Hinchinbrook, and with the launch of this program just in time for Christmas, now has never been a better time to shop local.
“Residents may also choose to buy a gift card for friends and family that live outside our region …
“It’s also an opportunity to
entice new visitors to come and see what we have in the Herbert District.”
Mr Dametto said Hinchinbrook Shire’s abundance of specialty stores meant there was plenty for shoppers to choose from.
Ms Coco said the cards would go on sale later this month and encouraged residents to keep an eye on the Hinchinbrook page of the Townsville Bulletin website or the Hinchinbrook pages printed in the Bulletin each Wednesday for the latest Shop the Hinchinbrook Way updates.
