TRUE WAR CRIMINALS

-

SCOTT Morrison is on his high horse of righteousness about alleged war crimes in Afghanistan by Australian soldiers.

But let us rewind back to 2003 when then prime minister, John

Howard, as part of the coalition of the willing with Tony Blair and George Bush, invaded Iraq based on lies.

Bush wanted to invade Iraq, no matter what. Howard and Blair were quite willing to go along with him, despite not being able to secure a majority of support from the UN for a second resolution. They went to war anyway. Numbers of innocent Iraqis killed are estimates only, but range in the hundreds of thousands.

England had the Chilcot Report – 2.6 million words, pointing out the wrongs of their actions. There was no imminent threat from Saddam Hussein. There were no WMDS. Yet they still went to war, on the basis that these things were true. Lies.

Hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis died for these lies. These three are war criminals. Yet will never stand trial. Why? In

2010 Julian Assange released damning reports of American war crimes in Iraqi and Afghanistan.

He has since languished in the Ecuadorean embassy in London to escape extradition to the US to face charges of espionage. He is currently in jail in England awaiting the result of the extradition trial, which is more like a kangaroo court.

But what is Scott Morrison and our government doing for him? Nothing.

Tell the truth about the

Liberals’ favourite country and you will be punished. Will they stand up and support our soldiers that they sent to Afghanistan? No chance. Got to wonder where their alliances really lie.

WARREN BAIRD,

Cranbrook.
