A RETAIL revival is under way at Domain Central with a host of new stores opening ahead of the Christmas rush.

The new Intersport warehouse is due to open in early December.

Salvos stores manager Stuart Estreich said the new concept Salvos store they were opening in early December would be a refresh on an old store that had traded in Woolcock Street, Garbutt.

“It’s in line with our concept stores.

“We are moving away from the op shops to be a true second-hand retailer, primarily for clothing,” Mr Estreich said. new

“It’s a much more pleasant store than some of the old shops. It’s fully airconditioned,” he said.

Mr Estreich said they were locating stores into shopping centres like Domain for the convenience of customers.

“Customers don’t want to drive from centre to centre. They want to come to a centre like Domain.

“As retailers move into clusters, we have to move too,” Mr Estreich said.

Among other retail moves in the city, one of Australia’s largest industrial tool retailers, Sydney Tools, has opened in a big showroom and warehouse in Bayswater Road, Garbutt, which will be a hub for North Queensland.

Sydney Tools manager Ryan Luke said they were stocking up with gear.
