THE first Swarovski jewellery store in Townsville has opened at Stockland shopping centre.

The celebrated crystal and gemstone brand, founded in Austria in 1895 and which remains family owned, is renowned for its crystal cutting and craftsmanship for jewellery and accessories.

The store has been opened by the local Waters family, who was inspired to bring the brand to the city after visiting the shops while on holiday in Europe.

Mick Waters said his wife and three daughters were looking for a business that would be a good fit for Townsville and decided this was perfect for his daughter, Tayla, who is managing the store.

“We’re so excited to have opened and see the opportunities that Swarovski can offer those who want the look and feel of diamonds and beautiful gemstones at an affordable price,” Mr Waters said.

“We’re confident that the people of Townsville and greater areas who visit will appreciate a world-class shop such as this in our city.”

A member of the Swarovski family and executive board, Robert Buchbauer, said the store design was an illustration of Swarovski’s contemporary vision and taste for design.

Stockland centre manager Andrew Stallan said they were pleased to welcome such a significant international retailer.

In other recent moves, Mr Stallan said they had worked with Ally Fashion to expand their store, provided a new tenancy for Tarocash and a second for Donut King.

While Kalynda Chase Beauty & Massage has also just opened.
