RADIO PAIR ARE RIDING TO RESCUE

- ELISABETH SILVESTER

TWO Townsville radio hosts will brave the North Queensland heat to roll around town in the name of giving little lives a brighter future.

Star 106.3 radio personalities Crystal Vas and Brady Ellis will ride 10km on Neuron scooters on Thursday to raise $10,000 as part of the Brighter Lives 2020 Giving Day.

Ms Vas said to partner with the Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation was an honour.

“Now that the Neuron scooters are around, we wanted to do something fun with them and Brighter Lives is such a great charity so we thought why not tie it in,” she said.

“If we can get to the end of the day and hand over a $10,000 cheque, we will cry.”

The scooter ride will start at the Star 106.3 Sturt St headquarters at 9.15am before heading down Charters Towers Rd, ending at the Townsville University Hospital.

Mr Ellis said he was looking forward to completing the ride to help young lives.

“I’m confident we will make the distance, as long as Crystal doesn’t wear her heels,” he said.

Brighter Lives CEO Tanya Busoli said the charity was hoping to raise $70,000 to support local hospitals and health services.

”Crystal and Brady have put in an amazing amount of work getting out into the community and helping to bring people on board,” she said.

The duo want people to show their support during the ride by tooting their horn or giving a wave.

People can donate to the Brighter Lives 2020 Giving Day on the Star 106.3 website or Facebook page.
