A group of 17 bowlers from the
Gold City Bowls Club travelled to Brandon Bowls Club on Saturday to take part in the annual social competition.
This year it was the Brandon club’s turn to host the day long tournament.
After a day of fun competition on the greens it was Gold City who ran out the winner, retaining the shield for another year.

There was no bowls on Sunday. On Tuesday, players came together for two rink games.
On rink two, Sandy Bailey, Wendy Thompson, Ken Cowan and Robyn Seibold had a win against Mary Mccormack, Rhonda Richards, Jack Scholes and Grace Gleeson. The final score was 17-11.
Errol Shuttleworth, Harry Bartlett and Mary Donaldson were too strong on rink three for Tina Barrett, Dennis Donaldson and Ken Peace, winning the game 24-12.

GOLF CHARTERS TOWERS GOLF CLUB
Rachel Martell won the Wednesday Ladies’ 9-hole competition at the Charters Towers Golf Club last week.
Runner up with 16 points to Rachel’s 18 was Noala Everett. Pin 12 went to Viv Titley and 15 to Rachel.
There was no competition on Friday or Saturday at the club.
Sunday saw Ros Schmid claim a win in the ladies’ competition with a +2 c/b. Runner up was Tracy Morris +2, run down Tonya Gilligan +1. Pins 3 and 12 were won by Tracy, 6 and 15 by Sandy Bailey.
Sunday’s men’s winner was Rob Von Wald 0, runner up was David Ly -1 c/b (visitor), run downs Darren West -1 c/b, Tom Wilson -1 c/b and Dallas Douglas -1. Pins 3 and 12 were won by Greg Betteridge and 6 and 15 went to Darren.
The winner of last week’s five day competition was Rosie Betteridge with a nett 16. The prize pool was $21.
