Enough codswallop, fix for crime crisis is simple

-

GPS trackers are a waste of time and money, as being caught means nothing to criminals, a reader says.

SATURDAY’S Bulletin (TB, 17/04) “Mayor calls for cash bail and GPS trackers” – this is just more of the same old codswallop that has been said over and over and over and over.

Surely Jenny, who has been virtually silent on crime for many years, could have been advised to come up with something new and productive.

Jenny has suddenly woken up to the fact that we need a radical change on the crime issue and is telling us that the current system is letting the community down.

Jenny, the community has been telling this woeful Queensland government for many years how they are letting us down. But what has been done? The same old story … committees, talkfests, meetings and plenty of political BS.

Absolutely no positive action by politicians, the police hierarchy, magistrates and judges; and of course, Jenny Hill, the mayor, should have been screaming her lungs out at this premier and her government so every Queenslander could hear her loud and clear. Not only when they have a BS committee meeting, but every day.

From personal experience with these committee meetings, the best and most productive part is the drinks and tucker when the meeting is over, as the next day most of

Picture: SUPPLIED what is said never eventuates.

There’s no action or commitment, plus most of what is proposed is forgotten about the next day. Therefore the car stealing and crime will continue as per usual.

All politicians plus the residents will keep saying something has to be done, which we have heard a million times.

Jenny, as mayor, must surely know, as the majority of police know but would be reluctant to say, that these GPS trackers are a terrible waste of time and money, as being tracked and caught means nothing to the thugs and criminals.

The question of cash bail is a very misguided joke. Honestly, unless the crims have just robbed some poor innocent resident, where on earth will they get the cash?

We have said it a thousand times, there is only one way to get a result and a rest from crime, and that is to put every known criminal behind bars. So easy, so simple, just common sense.

That way, not only do the public benefit, but also the criminals.

Politicians, please stop all the BS, as we have had a gutful. If you are not capable of fixing this issue then please say nothing at all, and please no more meetings, committees and talkfests.
