What makes my school EXCELLENT

-

Townsville Grammar School provides a positive environment that encourages students to be the best version of themselves and act with integrity and respect. This, combined with an extensive range of cocurricular opportunities, and teachers who help us achieve our personal best, means students become wellrounded people, prepared for the challenges ahead. I am so appreciative to have been able to go to Townsville Grammar School and to have had opportunities and made friendships that will last a lifetime.

What makes my school excellent is the opportunities that are provided, and the commitment from staff. For example, the programs such as STEAM, Optiminds, and Rhinos provides students with opportunities to learn valuable life skills such as innovative thinking, teamwork, and resilience. Something that is unique to William Ross State High School is that it offers the JCE (Junior Certificate of Education). The JCE makes William Ross State High School excellent because it prepares students for the QCE, ensuring that more students are successful as they have been preparing for it since junior school and can be confident on what they need to achieve to be successful. Ultimately, what makes my school excellent is the opportunities provided to ensure that students can achieve their best.

St Anthony’s has a good sense of community among both the students and the parents. It is an inclusive community where everyone is welcomed and accepted by their peers regardless of their abilities or disabilities. Everyone is treated equally and with respect by their teachers who are kind to students and offer help at all times. The school is an environmentally friendly community as numerous solar panels have been installed and students can contribute to making our world a better place as there are recycling bins available at multiple locations around the college.

The school is welcoming to Indigenous students and makes a constant effort to acknowledge the original owners of the land.

Indigenous students participate in ‘Indigenous homeroom’ where everyone can mingle and simply feel comfortable with each other.

The school offers an amazing sports program, where the students are pushed to achieve their best personal results and the best results with their team.

Why should you go to St Anthony’s? It is a welcoming community where you are constantly being pushed to achieve your best personal results academically, socially, and physically.

The community of St Anthony’s as a whole encourages a sense of belonging and positive relationships.

Walking around the school you are able to see students interacting with each other in a friendly manner and including students whose abilities differ from their own. St Anthony’s encourages all students to follow their passion and to nurture a sense of family within each other. St Anthony’s encourages all of its students to let their light shine in every aspect of their schooling and personal life, teaching them essential values that they can carry into their lives after school. We welcome everyone, to give them a chance for an astounding and engaging education. Our staff are very social to each other and students. They teach with purpose and commit to ensuring that at the end of the day, students walk out of the college becoming better, smarter, and wiser versions of themselves than who they were that morning. The students emanate a youthful and adolescent energy. With that energy and the presence of our staff, St Anthony’s gives us a feeling of family, welcomeness, and home. Why should you go to St Anthony’s? We endorse and strive to connect with Indigenous culture. We hold a history of sporting achievements. St Anthony’s has what it takes to make sure you have several pathways under your belt as you walk out of our college in your final year. RYAN SNEDDON ST ANTHONY’S CATHOLIC COLLEGE

I believe that my school excels in creating a commendable relationship between students and teachers. As a student that has attended Columba Catholic College for almost 13 years, I have met many lifelong friends and teachers that have made my time here unforgettable.

I come from a Vietnamese background so walking into a completely different environment was extremely confronting for a five-year-old child.

My teachers and peers immediately made me feel welcomed and nurtured.

Coming into my final year, being college captain, I am grateful to be able to represent my pride in the many years I have attended Columba and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

TAMIKA TRUONG

COLUMBA CATHOLIC COLLEGE

I have been lucky enough to attend Southern Cross Catholic College since I was in prep (13 years ago), and I am incredibly happy that my parents selected this school for me to attend.

Despite changes in teachers, principals and friends, one thing that remained constant throughout my schooling was the quality of education that I received.

The teachers at my school are incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to help, regardless of how ridiculous my questions may be.

Whilst the quality of teaching is my favourite part about my school, what makes my school excellent is the culture that has been established over the past few decades.

I’ve been able to engage in academic (debating, public speaking), music (string orchestra) and volunteering (volunteering certificate, Vinnies, Toast Room) opportunities throughout my education, which has helped me make my schooling experience my own.

Not only do I feel educated, but I feel ready to take on the next stage of my life.
