What makes my school EXCELLENT
I love the opportunities at Ryan, extra-curricular as well as educational. With educational opportunities, the teachers are amazing, they provide us with lots of support and are flexible to allow us to work around our other opportunities. Extra-curricular opportunities like sporting – rowing, basketball, netball, and block sports; arts program – instrumental, singing and dancing, and I recently attended the Western Music Tour.

I think what makes Ryan excellent is the really great community that surrounds us. Great staff, great peers, and great facilities that we can use together. With the teachers, they also know even greater broader people outside the college that we can use to network, and that’s our advantage by being at Ryan, that we have that available to us. That’s important to me as a Year 12 student. Recently our school held an Industry Connect Breakfast where we had representatives from so many different career paths who we could talk to. Also places like JCU at our Careers Expo are excellent opportunities for students. Community at Ryan is also evident in different extra-curricular activities. I am part of the rowing team, and it’s a great family that I am part of. I wouldn’t see them as anything other than family.

Oonoonba State School is an excellent school because we have terrific staff members and teachers, we have wonderful innovative technologies such as computers, laptops and ipads. We have a guidance counsellor, Indigenous teacher aid, a Defence student mentor and we really focus on our school being safe, respectful, resilient and successful.

We love Iggy Park because of the sporting opportunities and lasting Brotherhood that we form year in, year out.
It has a sense of community and belonging and also pushes us academically to achieve our best. We have a range of opportunities presented to us all the time; You should see some of the cool stuff we get to do in science! On the other hand, the fact that we can learn to build a video game or throw on some VR headsets and really immerse ourselves in our learning through Digital Design and Technologies is also pretty cool. We have kind teachers and we have nice friends. We have amazing playgrounds and we do lots of fun and amazing things. We do interesting things in the classroom. The school is nice and clean. I love coming to school.
