Dan, Cranbrook – the consistent principle being that dams should be blocked unless they provide some return on investment. STEVE, BELGIAN GARDENS

Now who would believe it, a delay with the $1bn-plus battery metals refinery at the Lansdown Eco-industrial Precinct. To undertake a feasibility study on its technology even. And we have been deluded into believing it was shovel ready. How deceitful. Again.

WARWICK, PALLARENDA

The government has obviously forgotten that the heavy licensing fees bought in by Anna Bligh for licenced premises that traded after midnight was to fund the police and ambulance services in the nightclub strip. If the government is going to remove this funding therefore putting that cost of security back on to the venues then they should also remove the crippling licence fees from the late night traders. THOMAS, SOUTH TOWNSVILLE 4810

There was no money announced in the state budget for the Haughton Pipeline. Is the Townsville City Council funding the next stage of the pipeline as $74m was listed in the budget? Jenny Hill as mayor it is your job to keep the community informed. JR, 4810

Re: Police funds scrapped by Queensland government for keeping nightclub strips safe due to 49 per cent drop in assaults. Could use the same argument on medication I suppose, my blood pressure is now under control so I’ll stop taking my medication. Duh. PETER, ANNANDALE

So the new $150,000 police station on wheels is being used as a deterrent against unruly behaviour from drunks in the CBD. Wasn’t it supposed to be used in the fight against spiralling juvenile crime? REB, KELSO

Hey Police Minister how dumb do you think we are? You cut $2.5m and the cops from Safe Night policing then claim to have added $3m and more cops to Townsville in a record budget. I’ll even bet your ‘new’ mobile police station is the same one you no longer use in Flinders St East.

This is a shameful attack on the safety of local people. BRAD, 4810

QPS officers jokingly refer to their badge as a pineapple. Judging by the Queensland government cutting funding for the Safe Night Precinct with rostered staff filling in from undermanned stations, it seems like the general duties staff have been injected with a pineapple. OLD FART, MOUNT LOW

There is no end to the madness from the Albanese Government, now they are giving 4200 GPS trackers to the Sri Lankan fishing fleet in an effort to prevent people smugglers using fishing boats. Hope they have better luck than the Palaszczuk government did with the ones that were to be used in Townsville to help curb youth crime. RON, KELSO

Totally agree with Weezer from The Strand, TB 23/6 on rising TCC costs. He failed to mention the total lack of maintenance on walkways, roads, signs, park facilities etc, etc. Plenty of nonproductive, unsupervised TCC employees wandering around looking though. Broken posts, potholes, toilet facilities, drains, rarely fixed and gardens overgrown. I could go on for a week. AJM, HERMIT PARK
