KABARETT BACK, IF YOU DARE

- EVAN MORGAN

FESTIVAL favourite Bernie Dieter is back with a brand new debauched and decadent Kabarett to titillate, tease and tantalise at the North Australia Festival of Arts.

Dieter has cemented herself as one of the standout artists of her generation in Kabarett, which is a form of satirical cabaret, and is now heading to Townsville after shows in London’s West End, Singapore and a sellout season in Sydney. Her new show blends dangerously funny original songs, sequins and satire with a cutthroat wit, and a deviant eye for debauched mayhem.

Dieter said she could not wait to have licentious fun and play with Townsville audiences.

“I am so happy to be back in Townsville. I have so much fun while I am here. The people are very welcoming and they love the filth so we have a good time,” she said.

“Every audience is unique, but in Townsville they are really just up for everything, they are so much fun, they are ready to go with us on this crazy Berlin Kabarett club journey and embrace everything, you know, weird, wonderful and debauched.

“It is brand new, spectacular acts we have, some sexy beautiful boys doing some strange and wonderful contortion and aerial acrobatics and of course we still have the beautiful fire performer.

“It is going to be wild.” But be warned – no seat in the house is safe.

“I am happy to be allowed back among humans so we are all kind of celebrating sticking a defiant middle finger up at the last two years and being able to connect and play with each other again,” he said.

The adults-only Kabarett runs until Sunday, July 10.
