1675 MARY WALCOTT American witch accuser

Walcott was one of the “afflicted” girls called as a witness at the Salem witch trials in 1992-93. Of the people Walcott accused or testified against, a total of 16 were executed, one died in jail and another was tortured to death.

1810 P.T. BARNUM American circus promoter

Barnum was a showman, businessma­n and politician, remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus (1871-2017). He is widely credited with coining the adage “there’s a sucker born every minute”.

1946 PAUL SMITH English fashion designer

Smith’s eponymous fashion company was founded in 1970 and has expanded into more than 70 countries, selling products via stand-alone stores and department­s in high-end stores. Smith designed the suits for the film Men In Black: Internatio­nal.

1950 HUEY LEWIS American musician

Lewis sings lead and plays harmonica for his band Huey Lewis and the News, in addition to writing or cowriting many of the band’s songs. The band is best known for its third album, Sports, and it’s contributi­on to the film Back to the Future.

1955 PETER MCNAMARA Australian tennis player

Mcnamara reached his highest ATP singles ranking of No.7 in 1983. He reached No.3 in world doubles rankings and won the Wimbledon (twice) and Australian Open doubles championsh­ips with long-time playing, Australian partner Paul Mcnamee.

1968 SUSAN WOJCICKI American businesswo­man

Wojcicki has been in the tech industry for more than 20 years and has been CEO of Youtube since 2014. She was involved in the founding of Google and became Google’s first marketing manager in 1999.

1979 AMELIE MAURESMO

French tennis player

Mauresmo is a former world No.1 ranked singles player. She won the Wimbledon and Australian Open singles titles in 2006. Mauresmo also won the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
