Community Assistance Grants open next week
BURDEKIN NOT-FORPROFIT organisations and event organisers will have the opportunity to apply for funding under Burdekin Shire Council’s Community Assistance Grants, with round one of the 2022-23 program accepting applications from 1-14 August 2022.
The program funds projects that develop new or existing programs and activities, local festivals or events with broad and events that support civic pride and enhanced social and economic activity.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn Mclaughlin said further application rounds had been added following feedback from local groups.
“Council is proud to be opening a new round of funding for the Community Assistance Grants in each quarter of this opening on Monday 1 August and application information on Council’s website now,” Cr Mclaughlin said.
“Key objectives of Council’s Corporate Plan 2022-2027 include supporting community organisations and events, and promoting and encouraging community participation, volunteerism and capacity building within community organisations. The Burdekin
Community Assistance Grants contribute to this by supporting our community organisations and local events through improved services or building their capacity as a group.
“Applications for round 1 of Community Assistance Grants will open on Monday and close in two weeks – I encourage all local organisations to access an application form from Council’s website now and make a start before submissions open.”
