Community Assistance Grants open next week

BURDEKIN NOT-FORPROFIT organisati­ons and event organisers will have the opportunit­y to apply for funding under Burdekin Shire Council’s Community Assistance Grants, with round one of the 2022-23 program accepting applicatio­ns from 1-14 August 2022.

The program funds projects that develop new or existing programs and activities, local festivals or events with broad and events that support civic pride and enhanced social and economic activity.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn Mclaughlin said further applicatio­n rounds had been added following feedback from local groups.

“Council is proud to be opening a new round of funding for the Community Assistance Grants in each quarter of this opening on Monday 1 August and applicatio­n informatio­n on Council’s website now,” Cr Mclaughlin said.

“Key objectives of Council’s Corporate Plan 2022-2027 include supporting community organisati­ons and events, and promoting and encouragin­g community participat­ion, volunteeri­sm and capacity building within community organisati­ons. The Burdekin

Community Assistance Grants contribute to this by supporting our community organisati­ons and local events through improved services or building their capacity as a group.

“Applicatio­ns for round 1 of Community Assistance Grants will open on Monday and close in two weeks – I encourage all local organisati­ons to access an applicatio­n form from Council’s website now and make a start before submission­s open.”
