New boss for local branch

Born and bred local Darren Frakes has been announced as the new owner manager of Bank of Queensland’s Aitkenvale branch.

Mr Frakes has worked at the bank’s Castletown Branch since 2019 as Business Banking Manager and has a deep knowledge of thelocal area, having spent the past two decades working with Townsville businesses and in the banking sector.

Mr Frakes says as someone who prides himself on building long-term customer relationsh­ips and delivering personalis­ed service,he is most looking forward to working with local people and businesses to find the right solutions for their unique needs.

“As the owner manager of the Aitkenvale branch, I have the incredible opportunit­y to differenti­ate BOQ from other banks inthe area and provide customer service that is of value,” Mr Frakes said.

“It also enables me to invest in our local community in ways that matter to them — the benefits are widespread.”

Outside of work, he is actively involved with community sport which includes coaching a local A Grade cricket side and beingthe Treasurer for Queensland Country Cricket.

“I am also passionate about cancer research and participat­e in charity bike rides, including the Townsville to Cairns Ride,and have participat­ed in Tour de Cure Signature Tours,” Mr Frakes said.

“BOQ backs Owner Managers to give back to their communitie­s in ways they are passionate about. I’m looking forward to buildingon this as part of my role as Owner Manager and supporting the community which has always been there for me.”

The bank has grown the proportion of owner manager branches from 61 per cent in 2020 to now almost 80 per cent.
