IT’S A FAIRYTALE

-

As a young boy I used to enjoy reading fairytales like Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White because they took you into a fantasy world where everything seemed a little bit nicer, and you could escape the worries of the day.

But now I am over 60 years old and hearing the Labor Party fairytales being told to us by our local members makes me sick in the guts as they expect us to believe them like they are true.

“Townsville doesn’t have a crime problem” and “we have the toughest youth crime laws in the country” are two fairytales that should never be repeated.

Any politician that tells these lies should be charged with misleading the public and should be removed from office and lose their pension. Because those statements dreamt up by the Labor Party spin doctors to try and hide the anarchy and lawlessness from the public couldn’t be further from the truth.

Queensland’s crime crisis is spiralling further and further out of control every day because the government do not want to accept responsibility for it.

We lead the country in the crime stats with car theft and break and enter and violent robberies and every day the pile of burnt cars gets higher and higher.

And the misery inflicted on innocent people that have their lives ruined by scum that will never work a day in their lives goes unabated with the courts doing absolutely nothing to restore law and order to our city.

There is a solution to all this and we already have it built down near Brisbane with the $220m Covid camp that sits empty.

Every criminal that gets caught does a mandatory six-month stint for a first offence and double it every time they repeat their actions.

They can’t steal your car if they are remanded in custody and while in the camp they could be taught some life skills like respect for others.

If this current crime crisis is left unattended before long Townsville will be just a smouldering mess of burnt-out cars and trashed houses.

Businesses will just close down as the cost of security escalates to a point that is unaffordable to carry.

Count from one to 160 and every time you say a number think of a new family being punished for owning a car and this is what has happened in just over six weeks in Townsville.

The people of Townsville deserve better.
