Have your say on future boating infrastructure

-

MARITIME Safety Queensland is calling for feedback on the Burdekin Shire’s recreational boating facilities to forecast the need for new and upgraded facilities in all Queensland Council areas.

The Queensland Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study 2022 is calling for community feedback from now until Friday 14 October.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn Mclaughlin said feedback provided would shape where future State funding was spent.

“Council is proud to support Maritime Safety Queensland’s Recreational Boating Facilities Demand Forecasting Study and encourages all local boat owners to take the time to have their say to ensure the Burdekin is well represented in the study,” Cr Mclaughlin said.

“Feedback provided will assist in identifying when and where future funding will be allocated for recreational boating infrastructure such as boat ramps and pontoons, so the more Burdekin respondents, the higher weighting we will have

“The Burdekin features some of Australia’s best estuary everything from crabs and ensuring there is appropriate infrastructure in place to facilitate recreational boating in the Shire is crucial.

“I want to clarify that this survey is to identify State boating infrastructure, which includes boat ramps and pontoons, and does not address Council infrastructure such as car parks, lighting and amenities at the boat ramps. The Maritime Safety Queensland survey will remain open until Friday 14 October and I encourage all locals to make sure they have their say.”
