Injured moggie’s purrfect new home
three-legged rescue cat whose leg had to be amputated after being found badly injured is now living happily after being adopted by a Townsville animal feed store.
Greg the cat was brought in as a stray to Townsville council’s animal care and adoption centre with a severely injured foreleg that had to be amputated by the centre’s veterinarian.
Despite losing a leg, the procedure did not affect this playful pussycat’s outgoing and loving nature.
He’s now found a new home at local business Feed 2 Go after the owners adopted him to be their resident shed cat to keep an eye on things at their Bohle store.
Yazmin Syed from Feed 2 Go said her co-worker Rachael Barrett came home from the adoption centre with the tiny and loveable Greg, who they named after a former co-worker.
“He’s a very affectionate cat, he’s very people-oriented, and he’s definitely Rachael’s baby,” Yazmin said.
“It’s lovely having him here and while it hasn’t been that long I don’t think we could have the shop without him anymore. He’s a really important part of our team.”
Ms Barrett said she was delighted with how well Greg fitted in with their team and encouraged other
Townsville residents to consider adopting a dog or cat for themselves.
“He just goes about his business, and we sometimes forget that he even has three legs,” she said.
“Now he has become a bit of a rock star, he’s very wellknown some customers come in just to see him.
“He’s also our chief tastetester, and he even warned us when there was a snake in
the shop one day.
“In our eyes, he’s a million-dollar cat, and he’s come into our lives for a reason.”
A variety of cats and dogs are available to adopt at
Townsville council’s animal care and adoption centre.
