Shop brings Christmas joy

-

IT’S time to put your Christmas wish list together.

If you’re looking for a gift for that special someone this Christmas, there’s one place that should be at the top of your gift-buying list.

Come and visit the St Vincent de Paul Society Book and Gift Shop located at 219 Charters Towers Road.

At this festive time of year, you can find a beautiful range of nativity sets which show the greatest story of all time, the birth of Baby Jesus.

“Our nativity scenes are always very popular at this time of year,” said Maree Church, manager of the gift shop.

“This year we have a nativity scene that reflects Joseph as a truly caring father figure. In the scene, Joseph is cradling Baby Jesus in his arms while Mary is sleeping.

“With Christmas just around the corner, the store lights up with Christmas gifts. Our selection of gift ideas offers something different and special for everyone, with something to suit everyone.”

You can find unique children’s books with magical Christmas stories, colourful activity and sticker books, jigsaw puzzles, cuddly lambs and prayer bears.

“But it doesn’t stop there,” said Ms Church.

“Find inspirational books and small pocket cards to help brighten the day, bring joy, lightness, and deepen faith and give a sense of peace and purpose.

“Come and enjoy the store’s serenity and quietness while you browse shelves, uncovering all of the tiny treasures and beautiful keepsakes, including hand crafted angels made by one of our volunteers and our wonderful range of Willow Tree angels and figurines.”

The gift shop also has a wide range of Christmas cards and gifts bags to make shopping that much easier and have your gifts beautifully presented for your loved ones.

“This is more than a gift shop, it’s a house of welcome,” Ms Church said.

“People often come in here just to take a break and enjoy the beautiful tranquillity and peaceful ambience.”

As well as having Christmas gifts and stocking fillers, the shop offers a large selection of unique gifts for births, baptisms, confirmations, First Eucharists, birthdays, weddings, and all family celebrated occasions.

Finally, when you visit, be sure to look at the beautiful jewellery selection from Italy with gold and sterling silver crosses, medallions and chains.

The shop also offers bracelets made of wooden beads, crystal beads, sterling silver beads, glass beads and leather strapping to suit all ages.

Ms Church and the store’s team of volunteers would like to express their heartfelt thanks to their customers for their valued support over the past year.

“We want to thank the ongoing support of the Townsville community, because without that we would not be able to continue our good works out in the community, supporting those who need it most,” Ms Church said.

“We look forward to you shopping with us over this wonderful festive Christmas season when we remember the birth of our blessed Saviour Jesus, who came as one of us, a little babe in Bethlehem.

“He changed the world and still does to this day. Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Christmas.”

The store is open Monday

to Friday, 9am-4pm, and Saturday, 9am-1pm, with extended trading hours over the Christmas period.

It’s located at 219 Charters

Towers Rd, Hermit Park. Call 47 252 380 for more details.

Carparking is available at the rear of the store as well as off-street parking.
