RACE 7

CANADIAN CLUB QTIS 3YO BM 72 HCP (1000M)

Chinny Boom ($1.55) waited for this race to strike a firmer track, rather than going around last week. She’s been the subject of several big offers from interstate based on the figures she’s been running up north. The laststart win was off the charts and had several rating analysts suggesting she’s a genuine stakes-class filly. Would expect her to jump to the front here and be hard to run down. Bulikov ($5.50) is a likely improver this prep. Looked good in the trial and expecting him to come back better than what we’ve seen so far. A few others here go okay, but they are taking on a very good one.

SELECTIONS: 4 Chinny Boom, 7 Bulikov

RACE 8 XXXX BM 78 HCP (1000M)

Release The Beans ($4) has won a trial and jumpout in preparation for this. He’s yet to miss a place first-up and his last two attempts have been in better grade than this. The 1000m is short of his best but he brings a touch of class to this race and gets James Orman to steer from the potentially sticky draw. Really like him coming back to this class of race and expect he will be hard to hold out. Circularity ($7) ran on well fresh. Has tougher draw this time, but likely runs on again. Shamrock Lu ($5) is racing well and will also run on. A few other fringe hopes as well, but happy to spec the class runner fresh.

SELECTIONS: 8 Release The Beans, 13 Circularity, 2 Shamrock Lu

RACE 9 PADUA COLLEGE CUP OPEN HCP (

1400M)

Not much between quite a few of them. Down the page, Emerald Kingdom ($9) is well in and was better last time; Ligulate ($13) is getting closer now; Last Chance ($9.50) was good fresh; Bottega ($5) continues to race well;

Matowatakpe ($4.80) draws better here and gets down in the weights;

Hot Spring Gold ($4.60) has been super coming through the lesser grades. Going with Matowatakpe based on the weight/draw. Swap the runs and he likely wins last time. Ligulate showed a glimpse of his best last time.

SELECTIONS: 9 Matowatakpe, 10 Hot Spring Gold, 2 Ligulate,

1 Emerald Kingdom

RACE 10 ROAD TO MAGIC MILLIONS BM85 HCP (1600M)

Gave Us Up ($4.20) was out the back last time, came widest and then made up a lot of ground in the Hot Spring Gold race. Now goes up to 1600m in a thinner race. Draws out, but doesn’t look huge speed, so expecting him to cross comfortably. Wren’s Day ($13) comes through the same race and made ground in more restricted room. Knockout hope. Linthorpe Lad ($5) is usually consistent in this grade and comes out of a slowly run race. Likely more tempo here, which will help him. Couldn’t Refuse ($5) was saved from the wet track last week to run here. Tappy’s One ($5) is another hope.

SELECTIONS: 3 Gave Us Up, 1 Wren’s Day, 11 Linthorpe Lad, 2 Couldn’t Refuse, 5 Tappy’s One
