PRACTICE EXPANDS TO THE BIG CITY
A Fast-growing multidisciplinary health service in Ingham has snapped up a fully fitted medical centre in Pimlico as a base for its expansion in Townsville.
Optimise Health and Wellness has leased a freestanding centre at 145 Kings Rd previously occupied by a medical practice which relocated to Eastbrooke’s new Hyde Park health hub.
Optimise founder Kara Christopher said the Pimlico building was a great opportunity to enhance their services and to help people here to lead more fulfilling lives.
“The property is an amazing space. We were very lucky to find it. What we are going to do with it is pretty special and something that is missing in Townsville,” Ms Christopher said.
Ms Christopher is an occupational therapist who started Optimise Health and Wellness in Ingham in 2018 with two therapists, an assistant and trainee.
It now employs 53 people in a range of allied health services from occupational therapy and mental health occupational therapy to conducting home and early childhood assessments, driving assessments, wound and ulcer care and helping people who have Parkinson’s disease.
It also employs nurses, personal trainers, exercise physiologists, support workers, support co-ordinators and provides innovative programs for primary school aged children, conducts social exercise programs and supports people in the community.
Optimise opened a purpose-built $2.5m centre in Ingham earlier this year.
Ms Christopher said the practice had grown with the growth in funding provided by the National Disability Insurance Scheme and helped people lead better, more fulfilling lives.
“The things we do for people are valuable. It’s a significant contribution,” Ms Christopher said.
Ray White Commercial Townsville director Troy Townsend said demand for medical and allied health commercial property was strong in Townsville and Optimise were fortunate the vacancy occurred just as they were looking to expand.
“We received very strong inquiry for 145 Kings Rd from allied health, GPS and medical specialists. The purposebuilt medical centre features 238sq m of fully fitted consulting rooms and 15 on-site car spaces. It was leased for around $350 per sqm net,” Mr Townsend said.
The centre includes four consulting rooms, a large reception and waiting area, pathology room and amenities including for people with disabilities.
