Townsville CEO takes lead at foundation helping homeless youth
THE chief executive of Lancini Property Group, Salvatore Guardala, is stepping up to lead a foundation which builds and refurbishes homes for homeless youth.
Mr Guardala will head the Property Industry Foundation’s Queensland board and takes over the role from Greg Clarke, a director of Mcgees Property for almost 40 years.
Mr Guardala has held an Advisory Board position with the foundation since September 2021 after having affiliations with the charity for many years.
He said he was honoured to lead the foundation and champion its agenda to create tangible solutions.
“Youth homelessness is increasing nationally at an alarming rate and is expected to rise to critical levels as a result of rising living costs but, collectively, we can reduce the number of young homeless people in our community and provide opportunities that change lives,” Mr Guardala said.
“I’m passionate about everyone having a roof over their head, a safe environment and food daily.
“The foundation has allowed me to make a meaningful contribution in supporting young people to rebuild their lives.
“I look forward to supporting the foundation with its initiatives that have real impact on homeless youths, particularly through The Haven Project.”
The Property Industry Foundation leads and coordinates the efforts of their industry, along with their charity partners, to build homes for homeless youth through The Haven Project.
The foundation raises funds to build each home in The Haven Project with each $1 raised matched through in-kind donations of skills, labour and goods.
The foundation has been building and refurbishing homes for homeless young people since 1996 and has distributed nearly $30m to youth homelessness causes over 25 years. It aims to build 300 bedrooms for homeless youth by 2025.
Lancini Property Group was established as a residential builder in Townsville more than 40 years ago and now develops and manages shopping centres, commercial offices, homemaker centres and industrial properties across the state.
